im restoring a 61 Econoline van with a 144 straight-six and a 3 speed transmission. Ive got the motor and transmission pulled and im filling holes in the floorboard, getting the underbody ready for the newly rebuilt motor. And im having trouble finding what axle is under it. Ive thought is was the Ford 7.5". But my axle doesnt match what i ve researched about the 7.5. Any tips?

Haven't dug that deep into mine yet... good luck by the way with your project.

Try to find a Ford casting number on the axle... someone may be able to help you figure out the particulars on it. There were a few options, but the number may help.

The Macs Auto Parts site may have pics for diff cover gaskets and stuff which may help you in eyeballing the type of axle you have, too.
