I bought a shop manual thinking it would show how to replace king pins. It isn't in the manual. The manual is excellent other than the king pin omission.

There are some incorrectly machined kingpins being sold.
I know there is alot of info about it in the yahoo group
and here as well

I have been very lucky and never had to replace any myself.

I worked on and finished my kingpins yesterday. There were two problems. The first one was getting out the small locking pin that is hammer driven into the axle. It would not come out. I had to drill it out . The one on the other side came out with a big hammer and a punch. The second problem was the new bushings that are installed in to the spindle. The holes in the bushing neede to be reamed. No reamer. They were about .002 to small. So I bought a small brake cylinder hone and honed them to size. Took some time but when I was done I could push the pins in with a very light touch of a hammer. The spindles turned very easily after I was done.
