I have a 62 5 window heavy duty I was not sure if anyone knows any production numbers if they could break it down into 3 or 5 window and how many were heavy duty? Any ideas on what the difference is on the heavy duty besides the 9 inch? How rare is this truck?

Any ideas on the difference between the base model and heavy duty besides the 9 inch?

My manual is showing the heavy had one more leaf in the packs front and rear.
Also had 7.00x13 tires vs. 6.50x13 tires.
Not much else noted.

The 9" axle was not available until 1964.

There was a 3/4 ton version starting in 1961. Springs and tires allowed the extra quarter-ton capacity.

A 1-ton version was available in 1963. It still had the 7.25" axle. It had thicker steel in frame.

The Heavy Duty badge started in 1964. They all had the 9" rear axle.

Post your door tag info at http://econolineid.com to find out if you have a half-ton or three-quarter ton Econoline.

Look at the GVW on the tag, 3600 is the standard half-ton truck. 4350 is the 3/4 ton truck.
