Can anyone tell me what trannys would work in my '62 pickup? I want to stick with the 3sp manual. Also I hear a lot of talk about 9" rear ends, which of these would work. The engine has been re-placed with a '66 200. It has plenty of power, enough to change gear ratio (I have the stock 4.00 in there now)
thanks, dick w.

The 1961-1962 transmission is crappy. You can easily replace it with a 3-sp trans from a 1963-1964 Econoline. The 1965-1967 would work too, but the rear trans. to frame mount is different. You should be able to fashion the mount if you can weld.

The width of the old Econolines is unique, so the only 9" rear ends that bolt right up are from another Econoline. The 9" was optional on 1963-1967 Econolines.

3.50:1 would be a good ratio with your 200 engine if you want to drive on the highway.
